I mentioned in a prior post, “ok, ok, I bought one.” My XO Ranking is now 8., that I had bought four XO laptops, and that two other folks had each bought two more on my recommendation, bringing my “XO Ranking” to 8.
It is now 12. While some friends and family were at our house for Thanksgiving, I told everyone about the XO. I also basically told one of my in-laws to just go out and buy two, and I would use one of them to teach his son, who is eleven, how to write some code in Python.
It turns out his son is an expert in origami, so I’ll get to learn about origami while trying to teach the boy Python. Not only will that be fun, I venture that it won’t be long before that young lad is the world’s expert in origami and the XO.
That Thanksgiving request/order raised my XO Ranking to 10.
I just learned via the following post from Daisy Dominguez, a librarian at the City University of New York, that my XO Ranking is now 12.
Just wanted to say thanks, too. I had a great time at your talk. After reading your last few blog posts I wrote about 20 friends and told them about the OLPC initiative and at least one of them purchased one this past week. We’ll have a small summary of the event with the picture you took on the online newsletter, “News from CUNY Libraries”, which will probably be up in a few weeks.
