My wife Karin and I will be in front of the Hiland Theater in ABQ by 11:30AM this coming Tuesday, June 26th.
We will wait around 12:15 or so, and then go with whoever shows up to the nearest “good eats” place where we can get green chili and soapapillas. Indeed, we may have *only* green chili and sp’s.
We hope some fellow members of the Hiland Theater community show up, so we can share memories of the wondrous Blanche Hatton and ABQ theaters in the 50’s and 60’s. My mom worked for the theater company, so I never had to pay for a movie while growing up in ABQ. I am the world expert on this subject.
For example, I learned to ride a bike at the old Route 66 Drive in — going up one small hill and down the next, trying to avoid the speakers. While not studying this new art form, I played Monopoly and Piggly Wiggly with the manager’s children.
